The community is located near U.S. Highway 64 and Highway 15, just 15 miles south of Chapel Hill and an easy commute to Research Triangle Park and Raleigh. Pittsboro has a small-town feel, only about 4100 residents, but the surrounding area makes it easy to find anything and everything you could possibly want. Jordan Lake State Park encompasses nine access areas to the shoreline of its beautiful 14,000-acre reservoir. It has camping, boat ramps, hiking, fishing, and 14 miles of trails.

The annual Pepper Fest in Pittsboro is a time when the community celebrates sustainable agriculture and its top chefs. Another annual celebration is the Mead Fest, where residents enjoy mead, food trucks, renaissance music, and arts and craft vendors.

Chatham Park is a unique neighborhood in Pittsboro where residents can live, work, and play. The area focuses on quality design and clean technology. It has bars and restaurants, natural parks, and walking trails.

Residents can enjoy water activities, and outdoor adventures at Bynum Beach Haw River Access, the lower part of the river spans more than 1,000 acres.
 

Schools 

The Chatham County School system serves the Pittsboro community. They have more than 15 schools, including traditional elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as an alternative high school and an early college program.
